What controversy?

With all the controversy and violent protests in the ME and other countries concerning the Muhammad cartoons, I went through my photo album to see if I had any photos that were borderline blasphemous, this is the only photo that came close.

This photo was taken at an undisclosed warehouse in Kuwait. The warehouse doubled as a barracks for the warriors of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The date of this photo is approximately the half-way point in time, between the end of Operation Desert Storm and start of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

We had just finished a field exercise and rolled into the camp. It was the end of Ramadan and we wanted to celebrate. Of course there were no alcoholic beverages in Kuwait. All we had was non-alcoholic beer. We drank NA Lowenbrau, ate Pringles and played cutthroat Hearts through the night. Back in California it would have been the real deal, Bud and fried pork rinds!
